“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:13-16

Ice-Breaker:

1. Have you ever been lost in the dark? Maybe you could not find the light switch or took a turn down a path in the woods and you couldn’t see in front of you. How did that make you feel?

Questions: (Read Matthew 5:13-16)

Salt: 2. Dan talked about how we can either be salt or salty, what things make you the most salty? How can you change that to being salt and enhancing life?

3. Salt causes thirst. How can we help others around us to be thirsty for the Lord?

Light: 4. A city on a hill was easily visible to all in the local area. What advantages does that have? Disadvantages?

5. What does it mean for us to be a city on a hill? What, if anything, is keeping you from doing that?

6. We were all made for more. What are some ways your group could be a light in the dark world this summer?
