Mexico Short Term GO Trips

In support of our church purpose, "reaching people with the life changing reality of Jesus Christ", the Missions Ministry exists to develop a missional mindset in our people. The vision is that every man, woman, and child attending our church would have the opportunity to experience missional activities and to fully develop their personal missions ministry.

One of the ways in which we do this by the offering of our short term Mexico mission trips a couple times a year. This is an interactive, inexpensive and accessible mission opportunity that allows members to take a next step in their spiritual journey. We have a long and ongoing relationship with the people in Piedras Negras, Mexico and have been amazed to see God work over the years.

The 3 major components of each trip are:

  1. Opportunity for every participant to share the saving message of the Gospel
  2. Discipleship training moment
  3. Opportunity to directly serve people in need

Curriculum and Crafts

At Back Yard Bible Clubs, we do some really important work. Statistics show that 80% of Mexican believers accepted Jesus before the age of 12. 70% of the believers who accepted Jesus after the age of 12 report having a positive experience with regards to church or believers before the age of 12. What we are doing is CRUCIAL! Each day at clubs, we will play games, sing songs, tell Bible stories, the Gospel, testimonies, and have a craft. The crafts are a big deal. Boys and girls, kids and adults - they all love to make something themselves. They take a lot of pride in activities like this. Of course, snack and drink will be included, as well. Here is the curriculum so you all can be praying about testimonies to share, softening the hearts that go with the ears that will hear these messages, and be prepared.

Lesson 1: Jesus turns the water to wine. Main truth: trust in Jesus, the all powerful son of god to help you with your problems. Bible passage - John 2:1-11. Memory Verse - Isaiah 26:4 Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD, the LORD himself, is the Rock eternal.

Lesson 2: Nicodemus hears the good news. Main truth: you need to be born again to have your sins forgiven. Bible passage - John 3:1-21; 19:38-42. Memory Verse - Jesus replied, "Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again."

Lesson 3: Bartimaeus receives his sight. Main truth: only Jesus can take away the darkness of your sin. Bible Passage - Luke 18:35-43. Memory Verse - When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

The crafts are a homemade water bottle Lava Lamp, a small confetti paper mache bowl, and a stand up calendar.
